Shopaholic Movie-True to the Books?
The movie, “Confessions of a Shopaholic” is loosely based on Sophie Kinsellas Becky Bloomwoods books, “Confessions of a Shopaholic” and “Shopaholic takes Manhattan.”

I say loosely because the only things that were similar was the title of the movie! First of all Becky is English not American.
Her parents are British and live in England. In the movie, Becky is American living in New York with her parents, cheap money saving people, live in New York as well. In the book, “Shopaholic takes Manhattan” she is getting married! The movie makes no such hint to this revelation.
Overall, the movie has very loose tie ins to the original books. The original books have much more validity to who Becky Bloomwood is as a person. If they ever make more movies on Becky Bloomwood, let’s hope they stay more true to the form and plot of the book.
